Tesla Inc, the leading company producing electric vehicles, is now set to release its first electric pickup truck. The truck has been named the Tesla Cybertruck due to its innovative technology and design. One of the main goals of the truck is to provide a sustainable substitute for the hundreds of fossil-fuel trucks and cars used throughout the world. Cybertruck is equipped with several new features as well as some that Tesla has used in the past. 

The Cybertruck was originally inspired by the movies Blade Runner and the James Bond movie: The Spy Who Loved Me. As a result, the design is extremely unique, and for some people, weird. Elon Musk has even said, “Other trucks look like copies of the same thing, but Cybertruck looks like it was made by aliens from the future.” 

While the physical appearance of the truck may be an odd move, there are several reasons for it. Firstly, the truck has an extremely strong exoskeleton as well as a bulletproof exterior. Secondly, it gives Cybertruck the ability to off-road in difficult conditions. The truck also has removable external mirrors, due to the fact that they are required by law, but Tesla wanted to make sure owners could remove them if desired. The interior of the Cybertruck is also designed for both comfort and functionality. The truck continues to use the upgraded autopilot system which is one of the most-desired features in a Tesla. Another unique feature in the Cybertruck is that instead of a conventional steering wheel, it uses an aircraft-like yoke for steering. This means that instead of being a round steering wheel, it looks like a semi-circle. These are some of the most notable features of the Cybertruck. 

The Cybertruck is definitely the most powerful truck on the market, being sold with either a single, dual, or triple motor. The single motor will have 250 miles on it, the dual motor will have 300, and the triple, 500. It can also tow up to 14,000 pounds which is more than any other pickup truck. Currently, the cheapest model is being sold at $39,000 and the most expensive at $69,000. Both of these prices are significantly lower than the prices of their previously released vehicles. The Cybertruck also is built well for off-roading and can be charged up to 15 miles using solar charging. Solar charging is another unique feature that Tesla has. It can be used in replacement of a normal battery charger and can also be used while driving. 

The Tesla Cybertruck is revolutionizing the pickup truck industry by being one of the only electric vehicles on the market right now. It is opening the door to a whole other world of possibilities, and rivaling companies are already starting to release plans and prototypes for their own electric pickup trucks. However, Cybertruck seems to be the most popular on the market right now. In the past, Tesla has added some very unique features to their cars, and the Cybertruck continues to be another one of their calculated risks, which could end up being either a success or a flop. In fact, in the reveal of the Cybertruck, one of the windows, which was previously stated to be “unbreakable”, shattered in front of a live audience. While it was a definite hit to the company, the Cybertruck continues to have one of the highest pre-order rates, with over 1 million pre-orders as of August 3rd. 

Since the announcement of the Tesla Cybertruck, several other companies have also released their plans for their own electric cars and pickups. Chevy has unveiled their vision for the new electric Chevy Silverado, also a four wheel drive pickup. In comparison, the Silverado will have 400 miles of range while the Cybertruck has 500 with triple motors. However, Silverado is going to be one of the first electric pickups to actually release into the world, with it’s debut date set as January 5th, 2021. Ford has also released their plans for the new Ford F-150 Lightning. The Lightning has 300 miles of range and includes a touchscreen display similar to the one in the Cybertruck. One difference between the Cybertruck and the Lightning, is that the exterior of the Lightning is made of aluminum panels, while the Cybertruck has a more seamless design using stainless steel. Also, the Lightning has a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds while the Cybertruck promises a maximum of 3,500 pounds. So far, these three trucks are the biggest prospects on the horizon for electric pickups.

In terms of design, functionality, and performance, Cybertruck has already broken many barriers and expectations. Tesla is an extremely accomplished company, and has succeeded in making many sustainable electric vehicles. With the Cybertruck’s release in spring of 2022, it will bring about a big change not only amongst electric pickups, but also in the world.
