On September 8, 2023, Centreville’s first Wildcat Congress of the school year was held. Wildcat Congress is a meeting of all of the school’s clubs and organizations to share important news and updates. All of Centreville’s clubs were given the opportunity to present a slide to share what their club is and any updates they have. In this meeting, most clubs announced interest meetings in the coming weeks. Many of those dates can be viewed in the activities calendar.
The SGA also announced upcoming events this month, including the Homecoming parade and tailgate. The parade will take place on Friday, September 29 at 5 p.m., and all of Centreville’s clubs have the opportunity to walk in it. The tailgate starts immediately after the parade, from 5-7 p.m. The tailgate will have food trucks, bounce houses, face paint, and games, and will be open to family and friends.
Wildcat Congress took place in the Lecture Hall during first period plus and was attended by many students, as well as Principal Lehman and other staff. All of the clubs had several representatives to speak. Senior Meredith Junker, a representative for the American Sign Language club, said “Wildcat Congress is a place to share our interests with the Centreville community.”
Along with sharing important updates, the connection between clubs is also a very helpful aspect of Wildcat Congress. Senior Samikksha Kumar, president of the Future Medical Leaders of America (FMLA), said “Hearing about all of the other clubs made me inspired to implement some of their ideas into FMLA.”
With so many activities taking place at Centreville, the new school calendar is a great place to keep track of them. Centreville now has activities and athletic calendars that will be consistently updated with activities. Both calendars can easily be viewed on the calendars page, linked here. Students leading clubs can ask to be included in the calendar by requesting on the CVNN announcements entry form, which is available on the All Students Schoology page.
