Mickey Mouse is a funny animal cartoon character and the mascot of The Walt Disney Company. He was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928. A humanlike mouse who typically wears red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves, Mickey is one of the world’s most recognizable characters. November 18, 2018 marks the 90th birthday of Mickey Mouse.

To celebrate, Disney Parks will kick off the World’s Biggest Mouse Party later this year in honor of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, with special festivities held at each resort around the world. The party is so big, it’s happening all the way into 2019. As a part of the celebrations, Disney Parks will honor the release of Mickey’s first theatrical film, Steamboat Willie, which premiered on November 18, 1928.

Disney will keep the party going with a star-studded celebration on ABC dedicated to Mickey Mouse, an extended-length birthday episode of Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse animated shorts, and dozens of new books, arts and crafts, and comics from Disney Publishing. A new show, Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Special Celebration, has also begun touring throughout the Asian Pacific.

To top it off, Disney animator Mark Henn painted Mickey Mouse’s official 90th portrait, which will debut on the cover of Disney Twenty-Three(D23). D23 is a fan-club for Mickey, which will also host Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World Resort this November for two days of panels, presentations, and entertainment.
