A search continues for a fugitive inmate and an Alabama Correctional Officer. The two were last seen going to a “mental evaluation,” for the inmate, which later was confirmed to be untrue. U.S Marshals are offering $10,000 for information leading to their disappearance.

Inmate Casey White and Correctional Officer Vicky White, were last seen last week at the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama. Despite their last names, the pair are not related in any way. Ms. White ordered that Casey White be ready for transport, telling the booking officer that since other officers left for court already, and because she was the only officer available with a certified firearm, she would take Casey to the courthouse herself. White also added she would be seeking medical attention after dropping Casey off.

When Officer Vicky couldn’t get contacted, booking officers knew something was wrong. A Florence Police Officer spotted Vicky’s patrol car in a parking lot, leading authorities to go to the courthouse. It was later discovered the two never arrived at the courthouse, nor was an evaluation scheduled. The investigation then began, with more than 20 agents from the U.S Marshals, The FBI, and other agencies taking part in the search.

Officers obtained video surveillance showing the patrol car both Casey White and Vichy White rode in. The video shows the car stopped at an intersection just eight minutes after they left the jail. From there, they hopped inside of a gold Ford SUV, which Vicky bought the day before and placed it in the lot. The intersection they stopped at, was about two blocks away from where officials found the patrol car abandoned. According to the sheriff, “What that tells us is that the patrol car left the detention center and went straight to the parking lot”. “There was not enough time for them to even attempt to try to come to the courthouse,” also adding that the evidence is starting to seem like Vicky acted of her own free will.

Leads are starting to arise as it seems the two may have had a relationship. The investigation has illuminated what authorities believe to be a romantic relationship between Vicky White and Casey White. A warrant is out for Vicky’s arrest on charges of permitting escape in the first degree, as officers grow more confident that Vicky helped willingly aid the inmate in his escape, rather than being forced to. Officers traced the relationship back to as early as 2020. According to inmates at the correctional facility, the two had a “special relationship”. Inmates also told investigators Casey White would get extra food on his tray, and was getting privileges no one else was.

Whether Vicky left willingly or not, she’s in danger. Casey was serving 75 years for a series of crimes in 2015; from home invasion, to car jacking, to two counts of capital murder. White even planned to escape the prison and failed prior to this incident. Disappointment surrounds Vicky White as everyone is in disbelief and shame. Vicky sold her home, and was supposed to retire the upcoming week before she disappeared. However, her mother who she was staying with since she sold her home, was completely oblivious to Casey and the retirement. Pat Davis tells CNN affiliate WAAY“As a mother, I didn’t know how to act because I thought at first it was a mistake. And then when I found out for sure it was, it was just disbelief “

The investigation is still ongoing and will soon come to an end. Once they’re caught,  it won’t be pretty. Enjoy your escape now because it’s coming to an end!
