Six bodies of foreign aid workers being transported out of Gaza to Egypt was reported on April 3. The Palestinian driver that transported the bodies was also killed. The bodies were different citizens including a Polish, Australian, Canadian, and three British citizens, who all worked for World Central Kitchen, an international charity that provides food for Gaza, Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt.
The six were distributing food that got brought into Gaza, and got killed after an Israeli airstrike, their vehicles killing everyone inside. Due to this, the charity was suspended from delivering food to Gaza.
Israel’s military chief claims, “It was a mistake that followed a misidentification at night during a war in very complex conditions. It shouldn’t have happened.” He gave no further details, and an independent body would conduct a thorough investigation.
People’s reactions were very mixed with who they support. Youtube user @USSLiberty1967 said, “According to the US and UK government Israel has the right to defend itself against the civilian population, children, infants, elderly, doctors, nurses, surgeons, academics, civilian police reporters, and humanitarian aid workers. Another Youtube user that goes by @soniabaig4073 said, “No apology for thousands of children killed in Gaza, but a prompt apology from the very top for five westerners. Makes me sick.”
