On January 7th, the Pacific Palisades fire erupted, causing chaos around the city of Los Angeles.
This fire has ravaged across thousands of acres causing thousands of homes to be burned and many people’s lives to be uprooted.
Since the palisades fire multiple fires like the Eaton and Kenneth fires have begun causing everlasting damages. Some fires that have started such as the Hurst fire have been put out. These fires have created more problems including air quality issues.
This incident has a very large impact on the people involved and living in LA. There have been homes burned, people killed, and families displaced.
Kelley, a resident of LA who lost her grandmother to the Eaton fires, told CNN “I’m trying to process all of this. I’ve never experienced this type of devastation in my life. My grandmother –– our grandmother –– she meant the world to us.”
Many beloved places such as churches, neighborhoods, and other establishments have been lost.
It reported that over billions of dollars in damages has been destroyed by these fires, these costs exceed the damages of previous fires in the LA area.
Thousands of people have already been evacuated or are currently facing evacuation warnings. So far, over 20 people have been reported dead with officers stating that many others have also been injured by the fires.
Many buildings, and belongings were lost in these unfortunate fires, many families have lost priceless items such as heirlooms and others have lost the lives they had built for themselves.
Many residents are expressing their sadness and frustration, and many are coming together as a stronger community helping one another through this incident.
There are still many people who are being impacted by these fires and that this is a very disastrous incident. There are also many services and people helping the victims affected by the LA fire.
LA County Fire Department’s Ken Haskett said. “This is something … I haven’t seen since I was born. These are fuels that haven’t burned since the 50s.”
The white house also provided federal aid to the efforts. A large number of people have been helping the victims of the LA fires, including donating goods such as food or clothes.
There are many speculations as to what could have caused the fire, but it is reported that a combination of very little rainfall in the past couple of months paired with strong winds that fuel fires could have aided in starting the fires.
These fires are still raging, causing billions of dollars in damages and destroying the homes and well beings of thousands of people.
