Best Dressed Oscars 2017

Red carpets. Cameras flashing. Golden statues galore.

The 89th annual Academy Awards ceremony took place on Sunday night, February 27, 2017. Actresses came donned in their best apparel and actors strutted in their dignified penguin suits. This is the time to really stretch fashionable boundaries but, the question is, where does that line end?

Here is a congratulatory list to those who managed to stay classy and still remained innovative in their dress choices (sorry Doily- I mean Dakota- Johnson):

Third Place: Viola Davis

Viola Davis stunned in this coral number that really popped against her skin tone. She kept it trendy with the draped off-the-shoulder look and her floor length train really gave her that princess-feel. She did a great job of letting her dress do the talking as she kept the accessories to a minimum along with a simple clutch. Also, that smokey eye? Perfection. I rate this: 3 1/2 stars.

Second Place: Emma Stone

Emma Stone. She is quite the Hollywood beauty. She did an amazing job of really representing the thematic elements of La La Land, where dreams come true. Her dress is elegant with its reminiscent flapper-esque style and I love the gold detailing. Her makeup team definitely nailed the overall look with a classic red lip and waved hairstyle. This look gets a solid four stars from me.

Honorable Mention: Emma Roberts

I cannot put into words the expression on my face when I saw this look. Emma Roberts definitely had a motive to make an uber comeback. I love the risque black lace detailing that plunged deep enough to give her the mature look. However, the white skirt part with its intricate design complements the top piece so well. I love the classic redhead look that she pulled off with the red lip. What can I say? I’m a sucker for side parts and hair swoops. Also accessories? 10/10 This look gets 5 stars from me.

First Place: Taraji B. Henson

There is not one part of this look that I don’t love. Her shoe game? Amazing. That velvet deep navy blue material? Red carpet worthy. That necklace? Bougie as heck. But what really won me over with this was Taraji Henson’s look: she owns that confidence and RBF very well and she knows she looks good. Her overall look flows very well together and she preserved that very classy vibe. And that knee slit? She knows how to show off just the right amount of skin.

This look? 10 stars. Sadly, I couldn’t find a star design that matched the others 🙁

So there’s that. The Oscars 2017. I am anticipating future looks that this award ceremony will bring and the slay game of all the actresses out there.
