Things to Expect From Solo: A Star Wars Story

So, the Han Solo movie isn’t too far away, and the first trailer has been released. And I can say this without a doubt, it’s about time. A large amount of fans are unsure about how the movie is going to turn out. I believe that their exact words were “going to suck” and “ruin star wars,” but I don’t believe them. Sure, it might turn out horrible, or it might be really good, but all I know is that I’m watching it regardless. There are also a lot of things to expect from this film, so I thought that I would list them here. So, now we begin; here are some things that you will probably see in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. I will split this into a couple categories: things you will most likely see, things you might see, and things there is a very little chance of seeing.

  • Things that you will most likely see in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Bob Iger (the CEO of Disney) has confirmed that we will see Han meeting Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. With meeting Lando, we will see Han winning the Millenium Falcon from him in a gambling game of Sabacc which is basically space-poker. We will also see Han joining the Empire as an Imperial pilot, as revealed from the trailers, which was originally how he met Chewie in the now non-canon “Legends.” It’s the basic “boy meets girl” situation. This might happen the same way, but only time and more trailers will tell. One more thing that will happen is the Kessel Run. This is confirmed by a lego set that will be released which is called Kessel Run Millennium Falcon. The thing is, do we really know that Han made the Kessel Run? In a New Hope, he only says that the Millennium Falcon did it; not specifically himself. For all we know, the film starts with Lando and his droid (played by Phoebe Waller Bridge) doing the Kessel Run, but that might be a bit of a creative stretch.

  • Things that you might see in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

In the canon reference book, “Ultimate Star Wars,” the Battle of Taanab is referenced to as a fight between Lando and a pirate fleet. It also says that it took place after Han was rescued from Jabba the Hutt (in Return of the Jedi), but that book has many errors, so I would not take it too seriously. My theory is that they got the date straight up wrong and that a huge space battle with all the characters would be a pretty great climax to the film. Also, a well known Han Solo trope is his tendency to tick off any bounty-hunter and crime boss that he comes across. You can definitely expect to see this and hopefully a small cameo from Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt since the characters have such a long history with Han. We might see the beginning of the grudge/rivalry between Han and Boba Fett, or we might see Han and Chewie dumping the cargo that they carried for Jabba which was the reason Han had a debt to Jabba in the first place. Also, I would like if there was a pretty significant time gap between Solo and A New Hope; unlike Rogue One which ended about 20 minutes before Episode IV.

  • Things that you have a very little chance of seeing in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Okay, I’m going to be honest with you here. This section is just things that I’d really like to see in the film but not things that have any chance of making it in. Something that would be nice to see in the Han Solo movie would be the Imperial Corporate sector. We did just see this with Canto Bight in the Last Jedi but, since Han spent a lot of time in the Corporate sector in his popular “Legends” adventures, I thought it might be nice for it to be added, because what Han Solo does best is to get in trouble with the rich and prosperous. In the canon Star Wars comics, Han brings Leia to his refuge on a planet in the Monsua Nebula which is where he made a small hideout from the Empire. Maybe we could see how he discovered it, or maybe he can bring Emilia Clarke’s character, Q’ra, here. Also, maybe the smuggler, Dash Rendar, and his famed ship, the Outrider, could make a small cameo somewhere in the background. For example, the Outrider could be seen in a Corellian hangar, or Dash could be seen walking down the street; anything is possible in Star Wars. It would definitely be nice for him to finally be canon even if they do not do anything with it.

So there we have it – some things that may or may not show up in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Now, I know that some of these are really unlikely to show up, but I had so many more that I thought were even less likely. Remember this: the movie may not be that bad, so I’m begging you, don’t slander it immediately.
