The millionaire reality TV star, model and social media influencer, Kim Kardashian, announced to the public that she was willing to pursue her dream of become a lawyer. In a Vogue magazine interview, she explains that she’s completing a four-year apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm so she can take the California bar exam in 2022. California is one of the four states, including Virgina, Vermont, and Washington, that does not require a law degree for taking the bar exam. If she passes this exam, she will be able to continue studying for three more years.

Her father, Robert Kardashian, gained his own fame as an attorney on, former football star, O.J. Simpson’s defense team during his famous murder trial. Her dad inspired her, growing interest in law along the way of his success.

Kim’s husband, rapper Kanye West, who is very supportive of her aspirations, takes time away from her family and children due to studying. Kardashian West claims that her studies are going well. She said she changed her number because she wanted to “disconnected from everyone” to make her legal dream come true. Many people have their own opinions of her dreams and expresses them on social media. There were comments saying she is just a rich celebrity using her wealth and fame to gain access to something others wouldn’t be able to.

“One person actually said I should ‘stay in my lane.’ I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals,” Kim wrote. “You can create your own lanes, just as I am.”

With the help of two mentor lawyers, Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney, Kim has been completing 18 hours of weekly studying. After working with criminal justice advocate Van Jones and his team, it motivated her to want to become associated with the law. With Jones and his team, she decided to take part to help them release a 63-year-old great-grandmother and nonviolent drug offender Alice Marie Johnson from prison, who served 21 years of a life sentencing.

After helping the imprisoned lady, she began to feel like she needed to learn more about the law. “I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society,” Kardashian explains to Vogue. “I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.

“A lot of these jokes about Kim Kardashian becoming a lawyer are just revealing that you don’t think a woman with a public sexual identity can be smart or care about justice,” a political editor for Harper’s Bazaar wrote on Twitter. She told Vogue she understands that people underestimate her because she’s mostly known as a reality TV celebrity, but she doesn’t worry about that anymore.

“I love to be put in a situation where I can have a conversation with someone who might not be inclined to think much of me,” she said, “because I can guarantee they will have a different opinion and understand what’s important to me after they’ve met me.”

Kardashian and her family have become multi-millionaires by influencing the beauty community and many other things. This time, she could be inspiring others to take a more intellectual leap.
