As the 2022 FIFA World Cup is drawing ever closer, let’s take another look at its host Qatar; a country only twice the size of Delaware that is located in the Persian Gulf. The country has been involved in enormous amounts of controversy, including accusations of bribery and corruption and the practice of modern slavery, since it won the bid for the World Cup in 2010. How much of that is actually true and whether Qatar is a country suitable to host a FIFA World Cup will be discussed in this article.
