The Centreville Art Department hosts a pyramid art show every year. This year the annual event was on April 9th from 4:30 to 6:30.
In addition to the art work from the artist at Centreville high school, Elementary School and Middle Schools in the FCPS county also have a chance to display their art work.
Kotomi Nakata, a senior who had a senior board this year said that “It was nostalgic.” She added, “In Elementary my art work was displayed and now during the art show I also saw my Elementary School teacher.”
While the art was the main attraction, there was food, bookmark activities for kids, and a band that was playing at the event.
Mrs Jenkins, one of the art teachers at Centreville High School said that she felt really proud of her student volunteers and the organization was very well done. She also mentioned how the Elementary School Teachers said to her that her student volunteers were amazing.
The Pyramid Art Show allows for family, friends and even teachers to see amazing art created by students and support the art community at Centreville High School.
Audrey Lauer, a senior at Centreville high school, said this year’s art show was better because she got to see her senior friends be more involved and participate in the art show compared to the previous years.
She also mentioned that she would encourage the underclassmen to go to the art show because she feels that “it’s important to support the art program at centreville- whether it be orchestra, band, theater”.
According to Mrs. Jenkins, “ the show went amazing this year and it gets better every year.” While it did go well, she also mentioned how “this year the seniors made it last minute and this was the worst in terms of being last minute”.
For future art to show some improvements, Mrs. Jenkins wants to work on procrastination from her senior students.
The one advice Kotomi has for underclassmen who want to do senior board in the future is to “Do whatever you want; it really shows your character.”
While this year went well there is always room to improve and change in the future.
